The Cascade Agenda is a century-long vision for the region from Puget Sound to the Columbia River. The result of extensive and thorough community dialogue informed by science, The Cascade Agenda lays out a set of goals for land conservation coupled with growth. It is also the program to achieve them. The details are laid out in the document The Cascade Agenda, 100 Years Forward, which can be viewed at www.cascadeagenda.com.
In order to make the vision real, we must all work together as a region to:
- Recognize the relationship between the creation of great communities and conservation of the region's landscapes;
- Conserve lands identified as critical to maintaining our open space, parks, and working landscapes;
- Make our cities and towns vibrant and vital, providing a magnet for people with the talents and skills that enhance our communities;
- Maintain our rural communities; and
- Endorse the concepts of market-based strategies in policies and programs.
